Fairfax Corner - eco friendly holidays in the historic city of York About Fairfax Corner An eco-house for 6/7 people in the historic city of York Fairfax Corner is a spacious and comfortable Victorian end-terrace house which has been sympathetically modified to offer a more sustainable style of living. It retains its large windows and door in the corner shop room.  It has a light and airy feel due to its high ceilings, large windows and open views of the walls.  The leafy south-facing yard is sunny and private, with garden furniture and barbecue. Downstairs is an entrance hall, two large reception rooms both with sitting and dining capacity, and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs there’s a landing and 3 bedrooms - 2 double and one twin and an additional ‘put-U-up’ bed.  One bedroom is entered through the twin bedroom.  There’s plenty of hanging and storage space. The bathroom has corner bath, basin and toilet and there is a separate shower room with toilet and handbasin.  In the basement is a well-lit, heated and ventilated space with mirrors, wooden floor and a table-tennis table.  Lots of books and some music.     Services and general information There is full gas central heating, cable colour TV, video, DVD, FM radio, telephone, hairdryer, music system,  washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, electric double oven, gas hob and microwave.   Bed linen and towels are provided.  Additional cleaning and laundry services can be provided if required at additional cost. Parking is on street beside the house.  This is free for one car (additional cars cost £2 per day)   There is a secure bike shed and outside toilet.  Bike hire is available in nearby Bishopthorpe Road. We have been awarded four stars by the English Tourist Council. Environment Policy We are progressively making Fairfax Corner as environmentally friendly as possible, so we have installed solar water heating (which has gas back-up).  We will be installing secondary double glazing and a range of other measures.  We do not provide electric drying, but there is a clothes airer and a clothes line in the sunny yard.  A laundry service is available if required. We do insist that there is no smoking in the house please, and no pets.
